Happy Holidays
With the new year fast approaching and a busy few weeks coming up, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2016 and the impact photography has had on my life this year.
After a few intense months of work at the end of 2015, I founded the Haldimand Photography Club in January of this year. The club grew from a handful of initial members, to a sizable club of professional to beginning photographers, photography instructors, models and MUAs, all of whom turned out to be an awesome group of great people. We have monthly meetings in Caledonia, ON with speakers on different subjects regarding photography, workshops, photo shoots and several outings every month. Throughout the year, I've seen members turn into friends, start up their own websites, sell their work, and get out, explore and learn the art of photography. It's been a lot of work, but with the help of all our members, I'm proud to have brought a professional photography club to my home town area.
Photography became an intense part of my life this year. Not only due to the coordinating of the club, but the club provided a variety of so many photo opportunities. Because of the wonderful models in our club, I had several photo shoots to develop my skills as a portrait photographer.
My goal for 2016 was to discover myself as a photographer. I would now define myself as an art photographer, not a documentary photographer. So, with less responsibilities with the HPC in 2017, I'm looking forward to developing my skills, and working towards selling more of my work again, and a few more art shows.
